Doctor Who and the Curse of Peladon

The hardback cover from 1980 by Bill Donohoe (left, from David J Howe's The Target Book) and the original paperback cover from 1975 by Chris Achilleos (right, from http://tardis.wikia.com/wiki/Doctor_Who_and_the_Curse_of_Peladon).

I can't decide which one I prefer. Achilleos's composition is as ever lovely (and highlighted by the way Donohoe's let Aggedor slip underneath the title and logo) and I do like the white backgrounds but the later cover has a wonderful liveliness: Alpha Centauri looks rather more animated and shows off a few more legs, there's a lovely weight to the painting of the Ice Warrior and Aggedor gets a bit of wild, snaky tongue (I don't know why both artists seem of the opinion that Aggedor expresses smoke). There also a lovely dynamism set up with the diagonal line leading from the yellow light in the background through the angled shadow of the Ice Warrior and Centauri's cocked head to bit of machinery and the cobweb in the foreground bottom right corner.
